2 - Pong (1972)
Played: Jan. 2011
Played before: Yes.
Heard of before: Yes.
Time spent: In total, days probably.
Completed: No such feat possible.
Mastered (0-100%): 70%
Used platform: Various. I had a game like it for the VIC-20. I also played it in connection to one of the Commander Keen games. Finally I booted it up on-line and played with my girlfriend.
Brief description: Pong is table tennis with the simplest of 2D vector physics. Hit the ball to make opponent miss. Oh, and be sure to talk your opponent into making mistakes. We all know this.
Story: 1/10 No story. None needed however.
Gameplay: 8/10 Sometimes the best things in life are the simplest, and Pong is nothing if not pure game-play.
Sound: 5/10 Depends on the version I guess. Not necessary however.
Graphics: 10/10 So minimalistic and brilliant, it makes an Ipod look like a homeless guy.
Epic win: My first victory.
Epic fail: My girlfriends first victory..
Moment of strongest impact: Getting truly pissed after missing three easy balls in a row. Game-play truly is all you need.
Overall: 87%
This is simply brilliant. It tells you how simply competitive gaming can be made fun.
