5 - Combat (1977)

                                          Biplane part of the game.

Played: Back in the day
Played before: No.
Heard of before: No
Time spent: Hours.
Completed: Played a spin-off with my sister. Good times
Mastered (0-100%): 30%

Used platform: I had a port of the biplane part of this game on a VIC-20. The review will be based on that game, my general gaming experience, and what I have seen on youtube. This seems hard to emulate, and only supports 2-player mode. Therefore it's quite hard for me to review, save for buying an actual Atari 2600, which may or may not come down the road. I honestly feel that I am able to review this, as I have played something VERY VERY similar on the VIC-20. Should I get my hands on the original Combat, this review will be updated.

Brief description: A bit like Boot Hill. This game prompts you to battle a friend with either tanks, biplanes or jets. The arena as well as the bullet physics can be altered by selecting game mode. Bundled with every Atari 2600 for quite some time, this must have been the Wii Sports of the time.

Story: 5/10 None.
Gameplay: 9/10 The dogfight game rocked. I played this for hours and hours with friends and relatives.
Sound: 5/10 Generic beeps.
Graphics: 6/10 What you can expect from a 1977 game.

Epic win: Winning of course.
Epic fail: My sister won once. As I recall my damage control was starting a fight with her. I was 7. This is perfectly normal behaviour when losing to your younger sister on a computer game in that age.
Moment of strongest impact: See the above.

Overall: 85%
An upgraded version of my dogfight game, this will have rocked. Period. I think I would be able to spend quite some time with this game even today.
